The Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Humans (SPCH) provides encouragement, resources, networking, and direction for those who want to counter the waves of cruelty sweeping over our culture and undermining our very civilization. "In the past, common decency has gone without saying; now it's just gone" (SPCH's Kathy Desilets).

We are a grassroots organization dedicated to the proposition that together we can change society from the bottom up.

Why We Exist
The Scottish poet Robert Burns wrote, "Man's inhumanity to man makes countless thousands mourn." We want to reduce that mourning by reducing the inhumanity. A survey of the internet shows dozens if not hundreds of groups under "Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals." Yet, until now there has been virtually nothing of the kind for people. We want to help change that, in concert with everyone of like mind who will work with us toward the same end.
Few people actually want to be mean. Most need more awareness of their own lapses into cruel behavior. Your participation in SPCH will elevate your awareness. Guaranteed. We also need a cultural shift that makes cruelty less acceptable in our society. Such a shift can occur only as masses of people unite. By joining us and recruiting others you can help to create a kinder, gentler society.
